PURPOSE: The NHCFAE's
Rene Matos Memorial Scholarship program assists dependants of NHCFAE
members, Students of Hispanic Descent; minority and women complete
their higher education efforts by recognizing and rewarding academically
superior performance, achievements, leadership, and community involvement.
NHCFAE scholarships are available on a competitive basis to any
undergraduate, graduate, or technical/vocational student.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be accepted
to or be attending an accredited college, university, or Vocational/trade
School at the time the scholarship is awarded.
SELECTION PROCESS:. NHCFAE scholars are recommended
for selection by a review committee, which evaluates applicants
on the following criteria:
- Financial Need
- Academic Achievement
- Student Activities
- Honors/Awards
- Community Involvement
- Leadership
- Personal Qualities and Strengths
The NHCFAE scholarship selection committee publicizes the program
and selects the recipients.
Without exception, applications postmarked later than May 1 will
not be accepted. Faxed applications will not be accepted. Applicants
will be notified of their application status August 15-30. ALL SELECTION
DECISIONS BY THE SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION COMMITTEE ARE FINAL.
INSTRUCTIONS:. It is the applicant's responsibility
to accurately complete his/her application and mail it before the
May 1 due date. No applications postmarked after May 1 will be accepted.
Your package must include the following:
a. APPLICATION FORM:. Fill in the attached application
form
NHCFAE Scholarship
Application. Leave no blanks; if an item does not apply, indicate
with "N/A". Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Be sure to sign and date the application in the space provided.
b. FINANCIAL NEED STATEMENT: Submit a copy of the following
Financial Report submitted to the college, university or
vocation/trade school where you are or will be enrolled:
